What are the qualifications to get a job like this? Apparently, a total void of knowledge of technology is highly regarded in these circles. This guy is on the Subcommittee on Telecommunications yet he is not surprised Google was able to pull a fast one on the government re: the 700mhz auction.

Google has openly admitted from the beginning that they cared more about Open Access than they did about ownership. If there had not been a minimum for Open Access, I believe the tab for this would have been much lower. Rep. Upton has a good point in that not ensuring Open Access at a specific trigger point might have driven the price up. However, there was no guarantee. Ensuring Open Access was much more important to the consumer. This will ultimately be a huge win for the US cell phone users. In short, nobody gamed the system...you created rules. They were followed in deed, if not in spirit, and you did not like the outcome.
Rep. Upton and his friends should be more worried about ensuring some standards in the wireless space so we can get cool features, cool gear, and lower cost like our friends in the rest of the world.

Also, while I am here, please watch the following and write the studios to keep these on the air:
- Big Bang Theory (probably safe but listed just in case)
- Reaper (Smartly written, Kevin Smith consults on this show, HELP NEEDED)
- Lewis Black's Root of all Evil (anything that gets Patton Oswalt on TV this much must be good).
See ya!
